Episode 7 – Front Impact Structure, Snap-Fit Lamp & Rotor Serviceability

Welcome back to episode seven of Munro’s Tesla Model Y Performance teardown, where Munro & Associates CEO Sandy Munro takes a look at the front wheel envelope and shares an overview of the:

  • Front impact structure: looking under the wheel well at the front rail structure, which compared to the Model 3 looks a lot different and much stronger;
  • Snap-fit lamp: the side marker, which is also a camera, is similar to the Model 3 with a molded snap-fit feature that snaps directly into the fender sheet metal; and
  • Rotor serviceability: changes, such as having an external retention screw for the brakes, make servicing the rotor much easier.
